The Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet provides annual funding for 13 multi-jurisdictional drug task forces. During 2006, standards, model policies and multi-jurisdictional drug task force operations are evaluated and reviewed to ensure program compliance.

Kentucky's law enforcement community maintained a high level of performance during 2006. The Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy was instrumental in bringing law enforcement agencies together to share intelligence, resources and to collaborate on significant drug investigations.

Many of Kentucky's police departments and sheriff's offices conduct drug investigations. Although not part of a formalized drug task force, collaboration occurs between federal, state, and local agencies. Many local law enforcement agencies assign detectives exclusively to the formalized drug task forces.
