Among the strategies to handle substance-abusing offenders is the provision of a variety of support services and close monitoring of offenders by the court system to ensure offenders get the treatment they need and prevent recidivism. Two presenters will provide information on how drug courts operate, special issues with using drug courts in rural communities and with methamphetamine-addicted offenders, and research evidence on their effectiveness.
