Methamphetamine Use among State Population (2002-2005):
4.5% of persons aged 12 or older reported using meth one or more times during their life.2
1.9% of young adults aged 18-25 reported past year methamphetamine use.
0.7% of persons aged 12 or older reported past year methamphetamine use.3
Methamphetamine Use among High School Students (2005):
7% of students reported using methamphetamine one or more times during their life.4
Drug Offenses:
18% of 2005 Federal Drug Cases in Indiana involved methamphetamine.5
Lab Incidents:
There were 689 lab incidents in 2006.6
Treatment Admissions for Methamphetamine Abuse:
2,274 treatment admissions for methamphetamine/amphetamine abuse in 2005;
6% of all drug abuse treatment admissions.7
State Laws Pertaining to Precursor Chemicals:
No person may purchase products containing more than 3 grams of EPH, PSE or both in one week unless dispensed upon prescription; Products containing more than 120 mg of EPH or PSE in a single package may not be sold to anyone under 18 years old; In order to purchase packages containing more than 120 mg of EPH or PSE, purchaser must complete a paper or an electronic log with the purchaser's name, address, and driver's license or other ID number; All products containing more than 120 mg of EPH or PSE in a single package must be stored behind a counter.8
