Plain View Hosts Meth Task Force

Thursday, November 20, 2008

It's no secret that methamphetamine (meth) production is a problem in Sampson County. This year alone, 22 labs have been identified in the county, more than in any other county in the state outside of Harnett. Of those labs, 18 have been located in the northern part of the county.

That's why it made sense for the first meeting of the Sampson County METH Task Force outside of Clinton to be held in the Plain View Fire Department.

Plain View residents gathered in the building last night to hear presentations and testimony from some of the county's leading experts on the drug and its effects.

Task Force member Sarah Bradshaw said the group has held meetings every other month since 2004, but until now, they haven't been out in the community.

"So we're dedicating our meeting time to other areas (in the county)," she said, "starting with Plain View."
