7.7% of persons aged 12 or older reported using meth one or more times during their life.2
3% of young adults aged 18-25 reported past year methamphetamine use.
1.2% of persons aged 12 or older reported past year methamphetamine use.3

Drug Offenses:

24% of 2005 Federal Drug Cases in New Mexico involved methamphetamine. 4

Lab Incidents:

24% of 2005 Federal Drug Cases in New Mexico involved methamphetamine.5

Treatment Admissions for Methamphetamine Abuse:

315 treatment admissions for methamphetamine/amphetamine abuse in 2004;
6% of all drug abuse treatment admissions.6

State Laws Pertaining to Precursor Chemicals:

Purchases are limited to 3.6 grams per day and no more than 9 grams per 30 days; Retail distribution limited to no more than 2 blister packages not to exceed 6 grams of nonexempt PSE products in a single transaction; Retailer distributor registrants may not knowingly sell more than 2 blister packages not to exceed 6 grams in any 7 day period to one person; All PSE products may be dispensed, sold, or distributed only by a licensed pharmacist, pharmacist intern, or registered pharmacy technician; Person purchasing, receiving, or otherwise acquiring any PSE product must produce a driver's license or other government-issued photo identification showing date of birth; A person purchasing, receiving, or otherwise acquiring any PSE product must sign a written or electronic log, receipt or other program or mechanism.7
