Methamphetamine Abuse in Nebraska

DEA Assessment:

Methamphetamine is the major concern for law enforcement within the state of Nebraska. The availability of imported methamphetamine is stable in all areas of Nebraska with a negligible presence of local low-yield labs in the rural areas.

Nebraska serves as a transshipment point for Mexican methamphetamine. Interstate 80 provides traffickers with easy west to east access across the state. (1)

There were 237 meth-related arrests in 2007; 62.9% of all drug cases in NE. (1)

There was 41.5 kg of methamphetamine seized in 2010. (2)

Lab Incidents:

There were 18 lab incidents in 2010. (3)

There was 1 child endangered by meth labs in 2010. (4)

Treatment Admissions for Methamphetamine Abuse: (5)

1,191 treatment admissions for methamphetamine/amphetamine abuse in 2010;

7.6% of all drug abuse treatment admissions.
